Morning Report: Advanced Oncotherapy sells proton beam cancer system for €50mln

Headlines from the Proactive UK newsroom.

Advanced Oncotherapy (LON:AVO) has sold a proton beam cancer treatment system to a hospital in Cyprus for €50mln. Installation of the three-room system will begin before the end of 2023.

ReNeuron (LON:RENE) has published clinical data from the Phase 2a stroke trial in the respected Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry.  Clinically meaningful improvements in disability scales were measured in the trial’s 23 patients.

NMC Health’s (LON:NMC) founder and vice chairman BR Shetty has resigned due to the controversy over who owns the shares in the troubled Abu Dhabi hospital group. NMC’s chief investment officer and another non-exec have also stood down due to their relationship with Shetty.

Jupiter (LON:JUP) is to buy rival fund manager Merian for £370mln. Merian had assets under management of £22.4bn at the end of 2019.

Retailer Laura Ashley’s major shareholder MUA is in talks with Wells Fargo over an increase in the retailer’s lending facility after tough trading in recent weeks. MUA is not going to put in more money and failure to get additional funds would force the group to consider all options.
